Still the number one downhill tyre.
The Minion DHF combines proven elements such as beveled lugs for low rolling resistance and great smoothness with cut lugs for more grip, making it the perfect all-rounder for enduro and freeride use. Thanks to its excellent directional stability and cornering stability, it offers a clearly defined limit range, making it a recommendation for everyone.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tyre shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tyres are developed for narrow rims and have too angular a shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance.
WT tyres are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 39 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tyres have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tyres are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tyres. The bead of our TR tyres is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tyre. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions right from the first inflation and with little liquid.
Like tyres from other manufacturers, "normal" MAXXIS MTB tyres can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, as the carcass fabric is very tight.
However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used.
DoubleDown
Doubledown tyres are constructed like downhill tyres: two carcass plies reinforced with a butyl insert in the sidewall. However, thanks to two 120 TPI (instead of 60 TPI) carcass plies and aramid bead, they are lighter than downhill tires, significantly more stable and robust than TR + EXO tyres and therefore ideal for tough enduro courses.
3C MaxxGrip
The well-known 3C downhill compound, which many of the best downhillers have trusted for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. With three different rubber compounds, 3C MaxxGrip offers the ultimate grip and the best damping properties for incomparable traction on downhills. The base layer ensures low rolling resistance and stability of the tread lugs. The compound in the tread center ensures the best grip on any surface, while the extremely cushioned compound on the shoulder lugs ensures the best possible cornering grip.
